2009-06-07 - 18:30 - The devil lashes out at "developed and developing countries"...

Aren't you sick of hearing about the "developing countries" woes and hard-ships with regards to carbon reductions? Or even about "developed countries" being so advanced?

Below is a very common, very bland statement we see way too often;

"As it stands now, under the carbon-capping Kyoto Protocol, rich countries shoulder most of the burden for cutting the emissions that spur global warming, while developing countries -- including fast-growing economies China and India -- are not required to curb greenhouse pollution. Rich countries, notably the United States, have said this gives developing countries an unfair economic advantage; China, India and other developing countries argue that developed countries have historically spewed more climate-warming gases, and developing countries need time to catch up."

Boo-hoo. Not fair!

"Time to catch up"! They need time to catch up to what? For what? To be able to reach the same climate-warming-gas-spewing levels of their "developed" competing nations? Need time to destroy more of the earth, pollute more of the environment, and are asking for a hallway pass for this from the "developed" countries?

I don't think so. Nor are there any "developed" countries. All countries are continuously developing, destroying and mangling our Earth. Unfortunately, it is just a snap-shot of evolution. Remember that the mighty dinosaurs eventually became extinct, no matter how ferocious they were - they could not stop the inevitable.

So, China, India and any other country out there who wishes to consider themselves a "developing country" for the sake of being able to pump more filth into our Earth with no repercussions, I have the following to ask you;

Are you willing to start with the same technology that the "developed countries" had to endure and build upon to become what they are today? Are you willing to forgo the benefits of their work, their trail of vast pollution and destruction to the earth to be on the same footing and get the same retrospective standing? If you want to be given an even footing so you can go on your merry way and further destroy the earth, then I ask you are you willing to use plant and machinery and tools and technology of the Industrial Age - as did the "developed countries"? If yes, then you would be partially right in demanding the extra "time to catch up" and I am sure some of the "developed countries" have some old designs - maybe even the machinery itself in either storage or machinery "grave-yards" - that they would be willing to sell to you at reasonable prices.

But there is no chance in hell you would be willing to use 100 or 200-year-old technology today. You couldn't compete! However, you will quite happily take advantage of the latest, greatest developed technology and use it to further produce rubbish the Earth can not manage, while at the same time clinging to some out-dated notion that your are a "developing country". If the "developed countries" weren't so greedy and eager to sell you their wonderful "developed" technology at reduced prices, I would put forward the idea that they even ADD extra "carbon taxes" onto their technology to be sold to specifically to developing countries so you can shoulder some of the 200 years worth of development costs - which you so take for granted in your "developing stage". What do you think of that?

But let us not forget a more important issue here - which is - how is it that "developed" and "developing" countries can exist at the same time, during the same periods, and yet have had such vastly different outcomes that has us now labelling them "developed" and "developing"? Is it that capitalism/democracy vs communism/socialism wins? Are developed countries more inclined to take risks and be adventurous where "developing countries" had been safely waiting for the "developed countries" to develop and then simply just use what had been developed at massively reduced pricing, effectively by-passing the need to experience the same development pains? One may be tempted to think along these lines...

Now is a different age where patents rule and technology is becoming greener - or at least expected to be - so we couldn't allow the "developing countries" to use the old, inefficient machinery of the Industrial Age - especially not when we have sales targets to meet.

So wake up everybody!

"Developed countries" are NOT developed - some may be just a bit more developed than some others! The US may be seen as one of these - but didn't they; drop nuclear bombs on not only their own country for testing, but also on hundreds of thousands of living people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan? Invade Vietnam and drop agent orange all over that country's jungle and withdraw after hundreds of thousands of people died? Finance and arm Afghanistan gorillas to fight Russia and then leave them to become the world's most infamous terrorist group - who years later would send jet air planes crashing into the iconic "twin towers" in New York? Invade Iraq on the basis of controlling a stray country's stash of WMD (weapons of mass destruction) that roused up immense global anger and death and civil and social upheaval, leaving behind many more thousands of dead bodies (remember what WMD did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and we shouldn't forget to mention that Iraq is one of the world's richest countries in terms of oil - nor that the President of the US who ordered this attack is from the US' earliest oil state, Texas, nor that his family has vast amounts of investment in oil over the world - especially in the middle east)?

This same "developed country" that brings us the Intel chip and iPhone! Nice stuff, guys! Kill the world while protecting it. Nice...

Japan was a "developing country" that blew Pearl Harbour into hell, raped China and Korea and was aiming to control the earth.

Germany was a highly developed country that worked out "efficient" methods of decreasing certain populations - one of the most horrific displays of human sickness that enveloped a whole country.

Britain was always a developing country that found it best to develop its skills of scouring the earth for lands to "acquire" based on its Queen and King's "wishes" and "god-given" rights to control the meek or powerless or weaker states.

And the list goes on, and will continue to grow, albeit in more ingenious, strategic, technical and politically-charged methods. One thing humans do not do - is follow the human laws outside their countries that they hold so steadfastly to inside their countries. This is most apparent when you send your own countrymen to the electric chair for killing a fellow citizen (whether this is just or not is another issue) - and then allow the President to send thousands of your countrymen to die in wars that are in different countries - sometimes using some piss-weak excuse that it is to "defend our nation". Sure. Didn't see you on the front-line defending your nation. At least the great Kings and Rulers of yesteryear had at least enough guts to do that to show their heart was in their words. I think the people have seen enough commercials full of lies.

"Developing countries" can not get away with expecting lenient attitudes from all other countries - and can not be given the leniency just so they can be sold more rubbish!

"Developed countries" don't give a damn about "developing countries" - unless they buy their rubbish products. Yes, that poor family living in a dirt-floored cabin on the outskirts of Africa or China or India surely need a new flat-screen TV so they at least enjoy viewing what they can never own, touch or experience - or in China's case, view what they are told to view - how exciting! Maybe they just need some clean water, some agricultural education, support and less filth and pollution?

"Developing countries" don't give a damn about their "people" so much as they care about their "national pride" and "National deficits or surplus". A clear example here is China's human rights history - but for a few extra sales of our countries' goodies, we will look the other way, right?

It is with this way of thinking that dooms you all...and you shall all pay the ultimate price....
