Johannesburg, 5am.

The phone rang, breaking Nwadiki out of his dream. He looked over at the alarm clock and saw it was 5am. From his experience, it must be something important for him to be called at this time. He knew who it was. "Jenny, good early morning to you."

"Good morning, Nwadike. Sorry for early time - but we have a hot lead for you. Chambers sent us a number of low-level meetings going on around town that we need you to check on.."

"Low-level - must be something else to it, yes?"

"Exactly, they appear to be low-level, but the timing is very close, the "methods" of engagement are similar and the discussions seem to relate to an unusal spread of companies. Definitely worth checking into. I will send you the details now."

"Thanks, Jenny. Am onto it."

Nwadike got out of bed, jumped into the shower, not waiting for the water to heat up, shivering at the shock to his warm skin.

Recently, there has been a lot more activity in Africa, partly due to the World Cup developments and build-up, partly to China's growing interest in the region and various other related and non-related events.

Nwadike works for the hottest online new magazine in Jo that states to offer "the latest, hottest news in Africa and beyond" and has been delivering. Nwadike was hired by this fast-paced entreprenuer who arrived in Jo with a bunch of technology that gave them the greatest advantage in investigative news reporting possible. Nwadike loved his job - but recently some incidents were pretty heair-raising. However, ever since he had started with jo-line.com, he has been on the cutting edge of information with leads constantly feeding in.

Today was going to be a scorcher, so Nwadike put on his Kaki shorts, beach shirt and trusty RM Williams boots he got from Australia and headed out for his day's adventure. Dropping his briefcase on the passenger seat of his Audi TT Roadster (another company fringe benefit), he opened his laptop and read Jenny's report while he drove....
