Happy New Year for 2010!

2009 was a trying year for me and Saloob - but 2010 will be a very exciting year!

Sorry if this email arrives twice - some of my contacts have a couple different emails.
If so, please use the opt-out link at the end of this email for one of them.

I am off to Perth, Western Australia from 18th December until 4th January to play some golf, see family and friends and enjoy the sun.
You are welcome to join our party on 19th December in Perth!

See here for our schedule - it was created using Google Docs! Scary company!

I hope we can catch up some time!

Cheers!

Matthew

(See below for some Saloob/business-related ideas and information)

Do you want a free web-based Desktop?
Go here and register a user name and start free! Let me know if you did it.

http://www.vzclones.jp/cloud/

With this desktop, you can;

  • Upload your Contacts (from Outlook - first export as Comma delimited csv file - pretty easy to do)

  • Upload documents and create documents - very handy when you are not near a PC with office software

  • Set up your email account - use IMAP so they stay on the server.

  • Communicate with friends using internal massaging.

  • Some other cool features.

  • Flashphone demo

Let me know if you need any help with it.

Are you a day trader? Do you have trading software always running on your PC?
We have a very cool solution! We provide DaaS = Desktop as a Service;

  • It is a fully functioning Windows PC that you can access using Remote Desktop (also called a thin client)

  • Only $40/month - always on, full back-up, no usage limits

  • Very secure - only you will ever have access to it - based on latest Windows 2003 Server x86_64

  • This is on 24 hours a day and you can turn your own PC on and off and it will not affect your DaaS

  • Even better - everything is happening in DaaS on the server!

  • This way there is no real download/upload pains/cost for you.

  • Also - send us the links to the software you want and we will help you install it - again saving download/upload bandwidth costs.

Full Data Synchronisation Service - only $5/month!

  • Sync your Contacts and Calendar

  • Sync from and to Outlook

  • Sync from and to iPhone

  • Sync from and to Thunderbird

  • Sync from and to SugarCRM (Very cool Business CRM - let us know if you want it set up)

  • Free Open-Xchange Webmail <- As used by AOL

  • Keep a ful, live back-up of all your important contacts and schedule - use on any phone at any time.

  • If you have a business, your staff's Contacts should be safe in your business - we recommend CRM.

  • Extra options available for Domains and Hosting, Web Design - let me know.

  • Option to own your own server $40/month

What is coming in 2010:

  • CLOUDS will start to consume more and more (by reducing end-user pain)!

    • Where are you in this space?!
    • The first step is good virtualisation and automation!
    • The next step is a powerful line-up of SaaS and ASP solutions
    • The final step is synchronising all of the above with on-demand support.
  • Amazon is coming...based on XEN, will they migrate to KVM or OpenVZ?

    • XEN-based virtual machines - this is NOT perfect cloud - server resources are not dynamic.
  • VMWare is using every trick in the book to try and position themselves in anything related to Enterprise

    • Strategic partnerhips with large technology giants (CISCO, WEBEX)
    • Technology Company Purchases (CITRIX)
    • VMware is too expensive to compete with Cloud generally
    • They will secure for 3+ years "some" current high-paying Enterprise - until they understand other options.
  • SaaS Providers will be basing their platform on major Cloud Providers (Like Morph is on Amazon)

    • Just by "plugging-into" various Clouds' resources, they will offer SaaS on top and use on-demand
    • They will offer Brandable re-selling options to any business

Did you know;

  • Parallels has been providing a Cloud solution with PBA (previously HSPC) since 2000?!

    • Many hosting companies were VERY slow to accept this technology
    • They are now feeling and will feel more of the "late-comer pain".
    • Some went with XEN and are now on the completely wrong track - hello KVM!
  • The Japanese government planned to support the following;

    • A "Japanese Search Engine" - flopped
    • A "Japanese Virtualisation Software" - flopped
    • A "Japanese Super Computer" - lost its legs
    • What is next? Japanese SaaS (5 years too late). Cloud? Same. Wake up!
  • With today's technology;

    • "Waiting and seeing" = doom
    • Taking a risk, moving fast and smart = giving yourself a chance to survive!

2010 Predictions:

  • Parallels will begin offering their software to the Cloud - not just for hosting providers anymore!

    • Watch out if you haven't prepared for it!
    • Cloud = (IaaS + PaaS) + plus +  (SaaS + DaaS + XaaS)
    • Amazon + Plesk? = Mass Shared Hosting on "the cloud"
  • XaaS is the next requirement;

    • XaaS is EVERYTHING else as a service
    • "X" = Plugged-in, real-time, on-demand, live.
    • "X" = Disparate Systems Integrations (Users, Services, Products) = MASH-UP of ASPs and SaaS in the Cloud.
    • "X" = Support, Consulting & Recruiting (Email, VoIP, Video, On-Site, Remote)
    • "X" = People-on-demand (Professional Services)
  • Google will dominate Cloud & SaaS until disruption occurs

    • It is impossible to compete with Google now. Maybe 2-3 years ago there was a "slight chance"...
    • More SMBs, Enterprise, Education and Government will move to Google.
      • This means moving AWAY from existing services
    • Google makes sense for its pricing and features
    • Google will need more XaaS Providers
  • Demand for Dedicated Servers will reduce dramatically

    • Replaced by Virtualised Systems - providers will prepare to offer resources to the Clouds.
    • Disparate Servers and small software solutions will become legacy very fast
  • Apple

    • Apple will open iPhone API to further compete with Android (Calendar)
      • Funambol will be there - providers should be ready!
      • Google will provide migration tools and services
      • Google already offers an "exchange" type service
  • Openbravo will get BIGGER - many integrations, including;

    • Funambol
    • MagentoCommerce
    • SugarCRM
    • Google will integrate with it - it offers a bridge to Brick & Mortar Shopping

2011+ Predictions:

  • Google will provide Free Wireless Networks globally - to close the final frontier

    • That don't want to be restricted/controlled by TELCOs
    • Contracts with Apartments, Office Buildings, Home-owners for Wi-fi deployments
  • Chrome OS & Android will be the core access devices to the Internet/Google

  • Google will integrate globally with all shopping carts, providing sync to Google Base

  • Salesforce will merge into Google - already have a close tie-up for Google Docs

  • Parallels will be purchased by one of the Big Players (MS? VM? Google? Amazon?)

    • Can you guess what it will be?
    • Do you believe it will happen?
    • What other OS Virtualisation can compete with Virtuozzo?
    • Key purchases: Virtualisation, APIs, Control Panels and Customer Base (Providers)

2012+ Predictions:

  • A disruptive technology will be released that will shake Google's foundations completely

    • Something way out like "telepathic search, select and purchase"! :)
    • Can you guess what it will be?
    • Do you believe it will happen?

Recommendations for 2010:

  • Hosting Providers - Prepare to market and re-sell Branded Cloud Services

    • You do not have the required speed, development or technical capabilities to offer competition
  • Data Centers - Offer your space and resources to effective Cloud Operators

    • Prepare for easy plug-in or mass-rental by Clouds
  • If you are slow with using new technology, you better FOCUS on brand-building

    • Many providers will exist on other Cloud providers - so BRAND will be the core differentiator (initially)
    • Most of these players will be using EXACTLY the same SaaS- just branded and supported uniquely.
  • If you are developing - then you should develop APIs, Modules and Plug-ins for existing, larger platforms;

    • Google
      • Google SaaS-to-ASP/SaaS
      • Chrome OS
      • Android
    • Salesforce (SaaS-to-ASP/SaaS)
      • Sales & CRM
      • Replaces need for Hosting
      • Provide Platform and hosting for add-ons/plug-ins
    • Parallels (PBA, Plesk, APSs, SaaS)
      • Resources on demand
      • Software on Demand
        • Drupal
        • SugarCRM
        • MagentoCommerce
        • Openbravo
        • Open-Xchange
        • VoipNow
    • Amazon (Cloud for ASP/SaaS)
      • Cloud SaaS Providers: Morph
    • OpSource(Cloud for ASP/SaaS)
      • Based on VMware - NOT dynamic resourcedelivery
      • Hardware with HP
      • Cloud SaaS Providers: Salesforce & Partners
    • Cloud-Cloud Integrations and bridges
      • Morph
      • ZaBridge

Saloob is seeking Visionary Business Partners for the following products/services;

  • Open-Xchange - Resellers, Japan Localisation, Sales & Support

  • VoipNow - Resellers, Japan Localisation, Sales & Support

  • Zingaya Flashphone - Resellers & SaaS Integrations

I have started writing a novel! It is related to Climate/Warming, Politics, 9/11, Society and a Solution for Global Warming!
The website has been prepared and will be released "some time next year".
Even the title is still top secret!

I look forward to seeing you prosper in 2010.
