Google alerts users that they will fade out older IE browsers - particularly MS IE...pushing HTML5

See last section for the email I have just received from Google related to the Google Apps service.

This is a pretty reasonable chunk! If you look at the statistics below, that is a good 10-11% of the browser market that can be directed somewhere. 10% added to either chrome or firefox.

It also means they will be pushing much more HTML5-based content, apps and services (Voice, Wave, Docs, etc)

This will give Google a wonderful opportunity to provide the users with a link to "upgrade" their browser by directing them to either Chrome or Firefox - VERY UNLIKELY will they offer Microsoft download links, and also less likely Safari..

So, by having the users going to Google, they will be in a very strong position to dictate not just how and what content is viewed - but how to access the internet...

The following info is from Wikipedia;

The usage share of web browsers.

Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.
